Patch Notes 2.14

Steam, wishlist, helper polish, livelier locations

Pre-patch notes:

Dogeminer 2 is coming to Steam. I haven’t announced the Steam release everywhere yet, as I’ve been spending all my time working on updates… anyway, soon™

Before full release, a free Steam demo of the next Dogeminer 2 version is planned for release in October along with new, unseen and (possibly) untested content!

2.14 12 changes

This patch enables WebGPU by default (~85% of browser support currently), for some insane performance benefits. You can also discover dual-wielding.

  • WebGPU Rendering enabled by default: falls back to WebGL, which falls back to Canvas
    • Having a thousands of active helpers no longer tanks performance (no really!)
  • Feature: Dual-wielding - Dual-Wielding is discovered when equip a duplicate Pickaxe
    • Double-damage (about 40% of the time, needs tuning)
    • Currently not a huge feature, mostly an easter egg, may evolve*!
  • Improved helper animations when grabbed/moved: better pickup lift, ground shadows and soft landings
  • Improved all location icons with atmosphere and dynamic day/night time lighting
    • A couple of sprites from KenneyNL’s Planets Pack
    • Masked and animated over existing icons
  • Always auto-equip a pickaxe found in the Mystery Box
  • Buffed the Moon Coin to +60%
  • The Golden Bonus now matches its popup (+50% / 60s)
  • Straightened the electric guitar
  • Removed the “Group Helpers Together” setting
  • New Steam wishlist buttons on the landing page and in the game sidebar
  • The Space Rocket shop box now flashes after the intro popup
  • Moved the landing zones for helpers around a bit
    • Shibes now default to landing in the loot-zone

Mobile & fixes 4 changes

  • New mute button on the tab bar (phone/tablet)
  • Moved the share button into Settings (phone/tablet)
  • Fixed mission loading stalls
  • Fixed new CLS load issue introduced in 2.13

What’s next

This post also exists to test if the in-game update notification detection works (that was introduced last patch).

Trying to stick to Steam’s Next Fest schedule for October. The upcoming 2-4 weeks are going to make or break the winter release, much excite!

It’s going to be interesting to see what ends up landing in the Steam demo. The scope is a little bit unclear.

Remember to wishlist!
